Summit ElderCare, a subsidiary of Worcester-based HMO Fallon Community Health Plan, was recognized last month by area legislators for its work over the past 15 years to support the community's elderly population.
Since its founding, Summit ElderCare, which has adult day care centers in Worcester, Charlton and Leminster, has provided care for 2,000 Worcester County residents.
State Sen. Michael O. Moore, D-Millbury, and Rep. James O'Day, D-West Boylston, presented citations from the Legislature to Patrick Hughes, president and CEO of FCHP, and Karen Longo, executive director of Summit ElderCare, at a special event held at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.
Summit ElderCare is one of approximately 73 federally funded Programs of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in the country, and the only one in Worcester County.
