Summit ElderCare, a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly sponsored by Fallon Community Health Plan, was recently recognized by area legislators for the health care services and support the program has provided during the past 15 years to almost 2,000 Worcester County seniors and their families.
At Summit ElderCare’s Caregiver Recognition Event at Mechanics Hall, state Sen. Michael O. Moore, D-Millbury, and state Rep. James J. O’Day, D-West Boylston, presented citations to FCHP President and CEO Patrick Hughes and Summit ElderCare Executive Director Karen Longo. Mr. Moore presented a state Senate resolution signed by state Sens. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, and Harriette L. Chandler, D-Worcester, Senate President Therese Murray and Clerk of the Senate William Welch. Mr. O’Day presented a proclamation signed by state Reps. Vincent Pedone, John Binienda, John Fresolo and Robert Spellane, all D-Worcester. Summit ElderCare also received a Certificate of Special Recognition signed by U.S. Rep. James P. McGovern. At the event, Summit ElderCare staff and participants paid tribute to caregivers for the assistance and support they provide to loved ones.
“As an alternative to nursing home placement, Summit ElderCare is truly a unique program that provides personalized health care and caregiver support focused on the unique needs of older adults,” said Ms. Longo. “We’re grateful for the support we’ve received over the years from area legislators and honored by their recognition of our 15th anniversary.”
Summit ElderCare, now the largest PACE in New England, is one of six PACE programs in Massachusetts and one of approximately 73 programs nationwide. Summit ElderCare has facilities throughout Central Massachusetts in Charlton, Leominster and two sites in Worcester.
